Štanjel in the Karst
... driving on we experienced the bora winds, the red Karst soil, the vineyards, the Teran wine and the air-cured pršut ham. We were impressed by astonishingly beautiful Karst villages built of limestone, and the harsh Karst folk who don't yield to the bora. We made a stop at Štanjel – one of the best preserved Karst villages, succumbed to gourmet pleasures and drove towards the seaside bathing in the setting sun...

We marvelled at the legend of the Predjama Castle. Upon taking leave we promised to ourselves that we would surely come back, and headed for the busy Ljubljana streets...

Ljubljana
... the bustle typical of all major European cities awaited us in Slovenia's capital. We could see why Ljubljana has been named City of Culture, and why the Ljubljana folk are so proud of the city's old quarter – traditional meeting place of the young. We were drawn to the picturesque marketplace just across the Three Bridges running over the Ljubljanica river. The visit to one of the fashionable restaurants and a shopping mall followed.....
