Avis aims to be the leading car rental company by adopting the "We Try Harder." ethos in everything we do.
Shareholders


We aim to deliver long-term profitable growth to our shareholders. We will follow the highest standards of corporate governance. We will communicate with our shareholders on a timely, clear and fair basis and welcome their feedback at all times.
Customers


We aim to make Avis first choice for our customers by providing consistently high standards of service and operating in a fair and straightforward manner. We work with pace and focus to meet their needs and when we promise them something, we go the extra mile to deliver on our promise.
Employees


We seek to make Avis a great place to work by fostering a strong team spirit within which personal initiative can flourish. We have an open, informal working environment in which all employees are encouraged to improve their skills and progress within the company. To this end, we give priority to internal qualified candidates for all vacancies both domestically and internationally. We operate non-discriminatory policies in relation to recruitment, development, advancement and compensation.
Suppliers


We work with integrity and professionalism with all our suppliers. We will pay them promptly on agreed terms. We seek to develop strategic alliances and partnerships with organisations which share a mutual respect of the customer, a commitment to quality and innovation and a desire to maximise the reputation and value of the brand.
Environment


We recognise that our services have impacts on the environment and we seek to minimise these through adopting best practice and innovation. We will seek to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by having an efficient rental fleet, improving energy efficiency in our offices and rental stations and by offsetting carbon emissions through long-term forestry programmes. Avis provide advice to customers on fuel-efficient driving and increasingly giving them the opportunity to offset the CO2 emissions from their rentals.
Community


We aim to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate. Community investment decisions are taken locally, but the principle areas in which we make contributions are road safety, the provision of vehicles for community purposes and the mitigation of our environmental impacts through tree-planting. We encourage our staff to participate in charitable fundraising activities.
Society


We will keep to the letter and spirit of the laws and regulatory frameworks in all the countries in which we operate. We will strictly oppose any bribery, corruption or the concealment of conflict of interest. More generally we will strive to be a good corporate citizen.


Management and leadership

Our management philosophy is one of decentralisation and local autonomy, underpinned by strong support services and leadership provided from Group Headquarters, an approach which stimulates entrepreneurialism whilst promoting consistency of image, service levels and operational efficiency.

In achieving this we look for continuous improvement, no matter how small, in everything we do and at the same time quantum improvement in the way we do business. We will never hesitate to adapt to new and more profitable ways of working provided that the integrity and honesty we apply to our business is not compromised.
