Avis collects the following Personal Data from Users of its Web site: Booking information When Users book an Avis service, they must give their full name, telephone number, postal address and details of their driving licence. This information will be used by Avis to process the booking and to contact the User if there is a problem with the booking or it is not possible to confirm the booking application by email. In the case of prepaid bookings, Users must also indicate the type of payment card to be used, and the number and expiry date of this card so that Avis can charge for the service. Online Account When Users make a booking, Avis allows them to create an online account to speed up future bookings. Thus account will include the Personal details the User supplied when making the booking. Avis Preferred If a User joins the Avis Preferred service, Avis will create an online account that will hold the Personal Data provided by the User on the Avis Preferred membership form. Record of transactions Avis will keep a record of all transactions carried out with Users. IP address Avis collects Users' IP address when they visit its Web site. This information only identifies the User's ISP (Internet Service Provider) and does not contain personal information about the User. Avis uses this information to help it understand more about where its Web site traffic originates Cookies Avis uses "cookies" on its Web site. "Cookies" are encrypted text files that the Web site stores on the User's computer. Avis uses cookies to personalise its Web site and customise its offerings to the User's needs and improve navigation on its Web site. In addition, cookies are used to find out which pages on the Web site are most visited and thus improve content to adapt it to the User's interests and make it easier to access. The User is free to provide this information or not. The results of the survey will only be used to improve the characteristics and uses of the Avis Web site and not for any other purpose. What does Avis do with the data? Users' Personal details are included in an automated Personal Data file created and controlled by Avis for the purpose of maintaining and managing the contractual relationship with the User, and also the tasks of providing information and marketing the car rental service and activities related with it. Avis may also use the email addresses obtained from Users to send advertising via email or an equivalent medium to those Users that authorise it to do so when completing the various forms included on the Web site. Users may revoke their consent to receiving advertising via email or an equivalent medium at any time. Notwithstanding the previous provision, since Avis offers various services via its Web site, Users must also carefully read the relevant Terms and Conditions applicable to the services requested, so that they are informed, at all times, of how their details will be processed in the event that the provisions of the aforementioned Terms and Conditions differ from what is laid down here. In order to provide the service Avis may, in certain cases, need to supply Users' data to other companies with which it works when this is necessary in order to provide the services required. In the same way, Avis will specifically disclose data of Users resident in the Canary Islands and other Users of the services offered by Avis in the Canary Islands, which offer a level of protection equivalent to that of the European Economic Area, to ALQUILE UN COCHE EN CANARIAS, S.L. for advertising and market research. Changes to the Privacy Policy If Avis modifies this Privacy Policy, Avis will publish a notice on the Web site so that Users are informed of any change in the type of data that are collected, the purposes of processing and/or third parties to which they are disclosed. Under no circumstances will any modifications to this Privacy Policy affect, in themselves, the choice that Users have made with regard to the way in which Avis can use their Personal Data.
