In April 2015 we signed a new and exciting long-term partnership with the Mahindra Racing Formula E team. We are proud to be involved very early on in a thrilling new motorsport which is at the forefront of innovation and promises to accelerate developments in electric cars throughout the automotive industry.

What is Formula E?
Formula E is the first fully-electric racing series in the world and fully affiliated by the FIA. The opening season started on 13th September 2014 in Beijing, China and tours 10 of the World's best cities before the season will come to an end in London with a double header event on 27/28th June. Races take place on city-centre circuits with a total of 10 teams, each with two drivers.

The core values of the sport centre on Energy, Environment and Entertainment; consequently it uses the very latest technology, pushing the boundaries for the future. With sustainability in mind there is compromise between performance and cost effectiveness wherever possible with widespread use of composite materials. Many of the drivers have come from Formula 1 so there is still plenty of speed with cars delivering acceleration 0 - 100 km/h (0-62mph) in 3 secs and a maximum speed: 225 km/h (140mph).

A unique aspect of the sport is the opportunity for fans to directly get involved through FanBoost. You can give your favourite driver an extra boost during the race by voting on the website. The top 3 drivers each receive a boost of power from 150kw to 180kw.

Introducing the Mahindra Racing team
Mahindra Racing is one of only ten teams - and the only Indian team - to compete in the inaugural FIA Formula E Championship. It was also the first Indian team to participate in the FIM MotoGP™ World Motorcycle Racing Championship series in 2011 and the Italian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (CIV) in 2012.

Mahindra Racing's Formula E team is based at Donington Park in the UK and will run the zero emissions M1-Electro racing car, with its batteries producing 200kw, the equivalent of 270bhp.

Bruno Senna
Bruno Senna, is the nephew of the late Ayrton Senna and made his competitive race debut in 2004 working his way up to Formula 1.
He started the 2011 season as reserve driver for Lotus Renault, before replacing Nick Heidfeld and qualifying 7th in his 1st race for the team.
Bruno has been drawn to Formula e for the opportunity to race unique street circuits all around the world and the pioneering technology surrounding it.

Karun Chanhok
Karun Chanhok is one of only two Indian Formula 1 drivers and was a test driver for Red Bull Racing in 2007 and 2008 before going on to race for HRT and Team Lotus in 2010 and 2011. Karun feels that the Formula E grid is one of the strongest outside of Formula 1 and this influx of talent is set to grow as success breeds success.
Outside the car, Karun has built up quite a name for himself as a commentator with Star Sports in Asia, BBC Radio 5 Live and Sky Sports F1 in the UK.

In Europe
The first Formula E electric race to take place in Europe was on the iconic Monaco circuit. To mark this occasion we used our Avis Driving Ratio (ADR) to better understand the challenge and intensity of this race track and the performance of the Mahindra Racing electric race car.
Scoring a 1.9 the circuit presents a difficult drive with only 1.9 seconds spent driving along the straights for each second spent cornering. The track features 12 tight turns and only one straight long enough to give drivers the opportunity to reach top speeds of 140mph (225kph)
