Driving license

A valid driving license is required if you want to rent a car at Avis. The license must be valid at the time of rental, remain valid throughout the rental period and should have been held for at least 1 year.

When collecting the vehicle, you have to present your driving license and your identity card or passport. International licenses in non Roman alphabet are only valid if presented with an international driving license.

Minimum age

You must held a driving license for at least one year.

The minimum age for car rentals in Belgium is 21 years for car groups A-B-C-D-F-H-K-M-N-O-P.

The minimum age for Vans is 21 years as well.

For categories E-G-I the minimum age is 25 years old.

The minimum age for luxury car rentals is 30 years (groups L).

Drivers under 25 will be subject to a 'Young Driver' surcharge of 20,00 € (VAT inc.) per rental day with a maximum of 194,00 € (VAT inc.) per rental agreement.

Additional driver

The rental car can only be driven by and is only insured for the person who's name and data are specified on the rental agreement. If others plan to drive the car, they must be present at time of rental to be added to the rental agreement. A surcharge of 9,00 € per day (VAT inc.) will apply to cover an additional driver with a maximum of 102 € (VAT incl) per rental agreement.
