Third Party Liability Insurance Avis provides liability coverage for its vehicles as required by applicable law. Full details are available at Avis Belgium HQ on simple demand. In countries where the car is allowed to circulate, third party liability covers the public liability, material and physical damage caused to third parties and passengers. In case the driver causes an accident and people are injured, an excess of 150,00 € (plus VAT) can be charged. Personal Accident Insurance (Super) PAI The Personal Accident Insurance covers drivers and passengers for the financial consequences of accidental death, some medical expenses and assistance and rescue. Collision Damage Waiver (Super) CDW Collision Damage Weaver covers the renter against the financial consequences of damages to the vehicle. CDW is included in most of our standard rates and reduces the renter's responsibilities to the excess. The excess can be decreased by contracting Super CDW. Special conditions apply to luxury cars (category L) and vans. Ask for more detailed information when collecting the car. Theft Protection (Super) TP The renter is responsible for the financial consequences of theft of the car (or parts of it). Theft Protection covers the cost of replacing the car (or parts of it) in case it is stolen; however an excess will be due. Regular TP is included in our standard rates. You can reduce the excess by contracting Super TP. Special conditions apply to luxury cars (category L) and vans. Ask for more detailed information when collecting the car. Windshield Damage Waiver (WDW) By contracting Windshield Damage Waiver (WDW), the renter is covered against all damages to the windshield and other windows of the vehicle. Airport and railway station surcharge At all airport and railway stations a surcharge of 20% (plus VAT) with a minimum of 50,00 € (plus VAT) applies. This fee is added to the rental charges, collected by Avis and remitted to the applicable authority where the rental originates. Environment tax In Belgium the renter participates in helping to keep the environment healthy by paying an environment tax or 'Eco surcharge' of 4,00 € (plus VAT) per rental agreement. Registration tax Most rent-a-car companies apply a (Vehicle) Registration Fee. These taxes are mentioned separately on the rental agreement and cover the costs for vehicle registration, road fund surcharges,… In Belgium the registration tax is included in the environment tax. Special equipment We strongly advise you to make a request for the required special equipment (child safety seats,…) when booking your rental car. Your request will be handled by the rental station. Fuel All rental cars are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refuelled prior to return to Avis, otherwise, in addition to the price of the fuel, fuelling charges apply. A refuelling surcharge of 10,00 € (plus VAT) in downtown locations and 12,00 € (plus VAT) in airport/railway locations applies. You may also purchase for fuel in advance. Buy a tank when picking up your rental car. This means you do not have to refill the tank when returning the car. If you choose this option a full tank will be charged.
