Avis was the first car rental company to launch a CSR Policy in 1997, and we have been a CarbonNeutral® operation accredited company since 2000 and for more than a decade we have been doing our bit for the environment by measuring and taking action against our CO2 emissions.

Launching the Avis Eco Collection in the UK
On the 1st December 2009, we launched the Avis Eco Collection, a new group of vehicles with CO2 emissions lower than 120g/km . .
In response to frequent requests from our customers for low emission vehicles, we are now able to guarantee our customers receive a fuel efficient, sub-120 CO2 emissions, diesel model every time they rent a car from the collection, which is currently available from 25 locations across the UK.
Six months on and Avis Eco gets even better with the introduction on fleet of new VW Golf 1.6 TDI with carbon emission as low as 99g/Km and MPG of 74.3.Learn more about the Avis Eco Collection and book your next rental from the collection today!

Carbon Neutral Operations
Avis is committed to reducing the impact our business has on the environment and we have been awarded CarbonNeutral® operational status since 2000.
This was achieved through measuring and reducing our CO2 emissions to net zero through a combination of internal and external reduction initiatives.
For every one tonne of unavoidable CO2 we produce, we pay for one tonne to be saved by a validated emission reduction project that has met international standards.

In 2009 we were able to work in partnership with The CarbonNeutral Company on a number of exciting initiatives, which included:
• Renewable Energy Projects, including an initiative in the Sichuan Province in South West China, where we supported the construction of hydro power capacity to displace fossil fuels
• Methane Capture Projects, such as the collection of methane from animal waste at three farms in Germany, where special equipment uses captured methane to generate both electricity and heat
• Forestry Projects, amongst them a program in Mynydd-Y-Garnedd, Wales, which combines natural regeneration and new planting to create diverse woodland in the heart of Snowdonia
• Clean Technology Projects, including a biomass co-generation power plant in the Indian state of Maharashtra, switching the energy supply at manufacturing plant to a renewable source With your help, we hope to work on more great projects in the future, offsetting any unavoidable emissions and trying harder for the environment. CarbonNeutral® rentals
Avis was the first car rental company in the world to offer CarbonNeutral® driving to all its customers. If you would like to absorb the emissions from your car rental today, this can be done in all UK stations at the time of pick up for a cost of just £1.

We are serious about our responsibility to educate and empower our staff and customers to drive more efficiently, and we are passionate about helping them to save fuel and reduce their emissions.
