Can I book a specific car type?

Avis offers a wide range of models, with a choice of sizes and styles to suit your requirements. All Avis vehicles are on average, under 6 months old and undergo regular maintenance and service checks prior to every rental.

All our cars are divided into categories following their specific conditions and features, the category is indicated by a single letter. Please note that reservations can only be made by car group and are subject to availability.

In which situations is it forbidden to use the rental car?
Avis cars can not be used for transportation of dangerous or forbidden goods, for giving driving lessons or for towing or pushing other vehicles or trailers. It is also forbidden to use Avis cars to transport paying passengers or to participate in contests. Clearly it is not permitted to drink and drive or to drive under the influence or medication or drugs.

Can I drive abroad?

When renting a car in Belgium, you can drive it in Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Finland, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. You are not allowed to use the vehicle on Mediterranean island territories.
Cargo Vans and vehicles of car groups L can not be driven on Italian territory.


What to do in case of accident/breakdown?

If you are involved in an accident, you should do the following:

- collect in written the names and addresses of all people/witnesses implied
- never admit liability
- do not leave the vehicle without making sure it is safe
- immediately contact the police in case of third party liability and in case people are injured
- fill in the accident application form and send it to Avis Belgium, rue Colonel Bourg 122, box 7, 1140 Brussels (even if a report was drawn up by the police)
- immediately return the vehicle to the renter so that an expertise can be performed

(Super) CDW insurances can be annulled in case of obvious negligence when filling in the accident application form.


Avis does everything in its power in order to avoid breakdown.

If you should encounter a technical/mechanical breakdown, you have to get in touch with VTB/VAB at 03 253 62 41 (24/7). During the opening hours of our offices, you can also contact the Avis-office where you rented the vehicle.

If you are abroad, you can get in touch with the nearest Avis-office, or you can call us at +32 (0)2 28 70 900.

Under no circumstances should you have the car repaired without prior and formal approval of Avis.
