General Information
VAT is currently not applicable. Any new tax or VAT imposed between the time of reservation, time of delivery and while the vehicle is currently rented will be borne by the renter.
Toll Gate
Currently no toll fees implemented in the country.
Added Important Information
Off-road driving
Not allowed. Customer is fully liable for any damage or additional costs.
Rule of Road
Drive on the right hand side.
Office & Branch timing
Airport location open for 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Downtown location
- Open from 8 am to 7 pm every Sunday to Thursday
- Saturday open from 8 am to 5 pm
Collection of your reserved vehicle
Vehicle pertaining to any reservation will be reserved for a maximum of 6 hours from its collection due date/time. Any collection after the mentioned hours will be subject to availability.
Deposit & Pre-Authorization
The estimated cost of the rental and insurance charges are payable in advance.
A credit card is mandatory for any reservation except in case of Full credit voucher.
A credit card “PRE-AUTHORIZATION” is taken at the time of rental which includes cover cost of insurance excess/damage charges, traffic fines and other charges due from the renter.
Pre-authorization amount on credit card will be QAR 1000 minimum. We keep pre-authorization amount until we receive confirmation or clearance of traffic fines and charges due. Release of the pre-authorize amount may take from 14 to 30 business/banking days. This may vary depending on the credit card company.
Age Requirements
The minimum age is 21 years and there is no maximum age limit.
Drivers License and ID Requirements
Qatar Residents
- Valid Qatar Driving License
- Valid Qatar Resident Permit
GCC Nationals & Residents
GCC nationals and residents can drive in Qatar for 3 months from the date of entry in Doha provided a valid driving license, resident permit of that country.
Visitors & Tourists
Visitors & tourists holding a valid International Driving license can drive in Qatar within 6 months from the date of entry in Doha.
Renter without international driving license are permitted to rent for a period up to 7 days from the date of arrival using their National License. Rental period beyond 7 days, renter must obtain a temporary Qatari Driving license valid for the duration of stay.
Note that if a visitor changes his status to resident and has been issued with employment/work visa/ resident permit, he is no longer eligible to drive unless a valid Qatar Driving license is provided. Refer to requirements for Qatar residents.
All international travelers and visitors to Qatar are required to provide copy of their passport along with their entry stamp.
Additional Driver Information
This is subject to AVIS driver qualification and will be charged at QAR 25 per day.
Method of Payment
We accept all major credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, Diners, JCB, Amex), Avis Charge Cards, AVIS Vouchers or Corporate LPO(s) as method of payments.
Local Purchase Orders (LPOs) are accepted from companies who are already registered locally with AVIS Qatar (Venture Gulf Rent A Car).
Credit Card Requirements
Credit card must be under the renter’s name and should be valid for a minimum of 3 months from the day of Rental and must be physically available at the time of vehicle collection. Please note that in all cases, DEBIT CARDS are not acceptable for “Security Deposit”. Refer to Deposit section.
Returning your Vehicle
Grace period on car return is 29 minutes. After which an additional day’s rental charge will be applicable.
After Hours Information
This is subject to AVIS Downtown locations which are not open 24 hours.
Cancellation and No Show Charges
If you cancel your booking on the same day the reservation is made, no cancellation fee will be applied.
Cancellation of booking up to 3 days prior to collection, charge of QAR 250 will be applied.
If you cancel your reservation WITHIN 3 days prior to the rental date shown in your booking, a fixed compensation equal to average 3 days rental will be applied. If rental is less than 3 days, the full amount of the voucher will be kept as compensation.
If you do not collect the vehicle and do not cancel, will be considered as no show and the full amount of the voucher will be kept as compensation.
Taking Vehicle outside the country
Rented vehicles are not allowed beyond the borders of QATAR.
Delivery and collection
Delivery and collection services are available upon request subject to driver and vehicle availability. Charges may be applied within DOHA (city limit) at QAR 100. Waiver and Protection Options
Insurance
CDW (Collision Damage Waiver)
This is a mandatory insurance included in the rental. The renter will be responsible for an excess between QAR 1000 – 2500. Police report is required.
SCDW (Super Collision Damage Waiver)
This is an optional insurance sold separately. By accepting this, the renter is reducing the liability of damages to the vehicle to ZERO subject to terms and conditions. Police report is required.
Charges depend on the type of vehicle rented. Police report must be obtained by contacting the local authorities.
PAI (Personal Accident Insurance)
Claims subject to QATAR Courts decision and approval.
Insurance will be void if
- Accident occurred on unpaved or off-roads, sand dunes, sea shore.
- If vehicle driven by unauthorized driver not stated in the agreement.
- Renter under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
- Crossing/jumping/ beating the red signal lights.
The renter/driver will be liable for the full value of the vehicles and other charges applicable in the agreement.
Insurance Policy
The insurance policy DOES NOT COVER acts of sabotage, terrorism, flood, storm, hurricane and other natural calamities, invasion act of foreign enemies, hostilities, war, damage if the vehicle was driven by unauthorized driver or authorized driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs, damage to the interior of the vehicle, windscreen (front, back and side windows), tire and wheel damage, wheel cover and rims, damage to the underside / underneath of the vehicle, broken or lost key, lost or damage car documents, contamination of fuel, either in the event of deliberate intention or negligence.
Motor Liability Insurance
Vehicle is comprehensively insured including third party liability. Terms and conditions apply.
Accident & Police Report
The driver must contact the traffic police to obtain the police report for both known and unknown accidents.
Police report must be presented to AVIS in all cases (renter at fault or other party at fault) in order to submit claims to insurance company.
Failure to provide police report will result in the renter/driver to bear the cost of repairs to the vehicle as per the estimated/actual cost stated by AVIS.
The renter will be responsible to pay the rental charges for which the vehicle is in for repairs related to the accident, traffic fine including police custody charges. Additionally, the renter will also be responsible for the rental charges of the replacement vehicle which will be considered as continuation of the original agreement.
Special Equipment
Baby/ Child/ Booster Seat
Baby/Child/Booster seat are subject to availability at all AVIS rental offices at an additional cost of QAR 25 per day. Advance notification of 72 hours is required. Damage Baby/ Child/ Booster Seat upon return will be charged at QAR 500.
GPS/Navigation System
GPS rental are subject to availability at all AVIS rental offices at an additional cost of QAR 25 per day. Advance notification of 72 hours is required. Lost or damage GPS will be charged at QAR 500.
Pocket Wifi
Pocket Wifi are subject to availability at all AVIS rental offices at an additional cost of QAR 50 per day. Advance notification of 72 hours is required. Lost or damage device will be charged at QAR 1000.
Fuel Charges
Missing fuel will be charge between QAR 2.75 to QAR 3.50 per liter.
Traffic Fines
Any traffic violations incurred during the rental period must be settled by the renter/driver. Payment receipt issued by the traffic department must be presented to AVIS.
AVIS reserved the right to clear in full the traffic violation after 30 days from the date of violation. A 10% service charge on top of the traffic fines incurred is chargeable to the renter.
Miscellaneous Information
Airport Surcharge
A one-time airport surcharge of QAR 50 is applicable for all rentals (either pickup and/or drop off) in Hamad International Airport.
During months of November to December 2022, airport surcharge of QAR 325/ will be applicable in Hamad International Airport
Non-Smoking Charges
AVIS operates a non-smoking fleet. Vehicle returned with smoke odor or unacceptable odor will required interior cleaning/detailing and will be charge to the customer for QAR 500.
Cleaning Charges
If the vehicle is returned with an extremely dirty interior (eg. sand, mud particles, tea/coffee or any other edible items staining the car seats and carpets, seat burns etc.), there will be charge of QAR 500 as interior cleaning charges.
Unused Rental Days
If the vehicle returned earlier than the reservation, no refund will be issued for any unused rental days.
Extended Rental
If the rental is extended beyond the reserved period or over 30 days, the signature on the base/initial agreement shall be sufficient evidence to authenticate the continuation of the rental even if the subsequent rental agreement(s) does/do not bear the signature of the driver or renter. AVIS reserved the right to charge different rate for the extended period either using the rental daily rate, standard rate or the current rate to reflect the seasonality and demand for the vehicle.
Lost and found Items
It is the responsibility of the driver/renter to ensure that no personal belongings left in the vehicle upon return. AVIS is not liable for any items inside the vehicle and will not be responsible for any loss or damages that the customer might be incurred.
