1946
Warren Avis founds Avis Airlines Rent a Car Systems at Willow Run Airport, Detroit. Anticipating post-war travel trends, this is the world's first car rental operation at an airport location.
1963
Launches bold new advertising campaign... 'We're only No.2. We try harder'... now acknowledged as one of the 10 best advertising slogans of all time and embedded as the very essence of the company's culture.
1993
In Lithuania Avis started its activities in spring of the year 1993, and now it is the fastest developing rent and operational leasing company offering a wide range of high-quality rent services.
In 1998, 2000-2001, 2005 and in the year 2008 AVIS Lietuva was acknowledged as the best Avis company among 3 AVIS companies belonging to the East European region (Avis Lietuva belongs to a group of companies operating in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia).
Avis Budget EMEA Ltd. aknowledged "Avis Lithuania" as a company which achieved the best results in the year 2000. In 2002 it was awarded for keeping "We try harder" spirit.
From the year 2001 to 2007 Lithuanian tourism asociation members awarded Avis as the best rent a car company in Lithuania.
