Before making an online booking you will need to:
- Meet the country age requirements. Age Limits can vary from country to country with both upper and lower limits. Most countries have no upper limit. As a rule the driver should be aged over 25. Upper age limits may apply in Malta and Ireland. Please check at time of reservation by clicking the country terms and conditions link.
- Have a full driving licence held for at least a year. UK licence holders will need the photocard and paper counterpart. If you have more than 6 points on your licence please contact the rental office you are booking with directly to confirm that they will be able to service your rental.
- Have your own credit card. Some car groups may require 2 credit cards. You will be notified if this is the case at time of booking. The credit card must be in the driver's name.
- Advise dates and times of travel
- Select your Avis car rental location
- Select the car group required
- Tell us your Avis Preferred membership number or Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) number if you have one
We will then check for availability and provide a car rental quote. This will include basic insurance and VAT. At the base of the page you will see a link to Rental Country Terms and Conditions where all requirements are listed for renting in your selected country.
From the quote, you can choose whether or not to confirm the booking. If you decide to confirm, you will be asked to provide your personal details. Your rental is then booked.

An Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) number can provide you with specific rates and discounts. If you have one, please enter it on Step 1 of Get A Quote. Your AWD number will consist of seven digits, one letter following by six numbers e.g. A123456. You do not need to type the letters "AWD" when making a booking - just the reference number itself.
If you have a Wizard/Preferred number, please quote it when making a booking on Step 1 of Get A Quote. Your Wizard number will be six digits and can be found on your Wizard card. This will automatically enter your rental preferences and your personal information to speed up the booking process.
Once you have made a booking online, you will be sent a confirmation email showing your reservation number. To change or cancel your booking click here and quote this reservation number and your surname (or the surname of the driver on the booking).

Special equipment, such as child seats, may be available at a small charge. These items can be requested at time of reservation and are subject to availability.
Payment is due upon completion of your car rental. Avis accept the following credit cards: Visa, Euro/MasterCard, American Express, Diners Card, Avis Charge Card. We do not accept Solo or Switch.
